Declarations of interest are checked at every Local Governing Body meeting, this page being updated with any changes which may arise.Kate Lee – Co-opted/Chair of GovernorsTerm of Office: 20/06/22 – 19/06/26 Declarations of Interest: Family members attend Abbeygate College, Rotary links with Hawarden Village Church School and Ewloe Green Primary School Governance Areas of Responsibility: SEND link governor I volunteered to become a governor after retiring as a Headteacher and wanting to give back to education, as well as to continue to use my skills and expertise, gathered over many years.The school where I was Head was a two-form entry school with 440 children from reception to Year 6, plus a 100 on roll in the nursey, with 75 children attending, in different groups, each morning or afternoon. It also had a Hearing Support Base to educate up to ten deaf children who were fully integrated into the school. Over the years I undertook school improvement work in other schools and was an Inspector for Ofsted.I now spend my time with my grandchildren, enjoy walking with friends, reading, go to Pilates and Yoga and am a member of the Rotary Club. |

Muriel Breugelmans – Vice Chair of Governors/Parent GovernorTerm of office: 09.06.21 – 08.06.25 Declarations of Interest: None Governance Area of Responsibility – GDPR/Data Protection Governor My name is Muriel Breugelmans and I joined as Parent governor in April 2017. This is my first governor post and I took the opportunity to support the great work of the school. I have 2 children, one of which attends Boughton Heath currently and another who did before moving on to secondary education. I was born in Belgium but have happily settled in the UK 17 years ago. I moved with the family to Chester 8 years ago. My career background is in marketing and I worked for Nestlé, Lactalis, Müller. I’m currently the Marketing Director for Fox’s Biscuits |
Jon Lenton – Executive HeadteacherDeclarations of Interest: None Jon joined Cheshire Academies Trust as Vice Principal of Boughton Heath Academy at the start of 2019. Following this he was made Acting Head of School and was successfully appointed as Principal from September 2021, being sponsored by CAT to undertake the National Professional Qualification for Headship throughout this time. He has extensive teaching experience and has held senior leadership roles throughout the primary phase. He has been both a local authority advisory teacher and a Specialist Leader of Education for Writing with CLTA. |
Andrew Vaughan – Co-opted GovernorTerm of Office: 10.01.2024 – 09.01.28 Declarations of Interest: Employed at Manchester University (from 2002) and MADE (Manchester Cultural Education Partnership) 2002 ongoing Governance Areas of Responsibility – Pupil Premium and Looked After Children Governor As a parent of a child within the school I am keen to help maintain a rich and creative environment for all children at Boughton Heath to learn and succeed. I have twenty years of experience within the formal education sector as an artist, teacher, creative facilitator, educationalist and manager. Currently I am employed as Learning Manager at the Whitworth, University of Manchester. I care deeply about how arts and culture can support lifelong literacy and how creativity can be used as a tool to inform learning across all curriculum areas. |
Robert Herd – Co-opted GovernorTerm of Office: 16.01.23 - 15.01.27 Declarations of Interest: Hope Academy - current Employee. TeachFirst - current ambassador. Christleton High School - former Employee. Rainhill High School - former employee. Governance Areas of Responsibility: Safeguarding and Curriculum and Assessment I decided to become a governor at Boughton Heath because I feel it is really important to invest time in our local community. The young people who come through Boughton Heath Academy will be the custodians of Boughton for future generations. Being on the governing body at BHA means that we can be part of our future citizen's start, putting children on a socially conscious path so that they can enjoy their future and make good decisions here in Chester or wherever they choose to live. I am a Head of Department having previously taught in St Helens and Runcorn. I am a passionate linguist, a committed gym-goer and avid cinephile. I live in Great Boughton with my partner and my Welsh Springer Spaniel, Tegan. |
James Ferguson – Co-opted GovernorTerm of Office: 15.09.21 - 14.09.25 Declarations of Interest: Employed by Mars Inc, child at Ashton House Nursery Governance Area of Responsibility: Health and Safety, Governor Training I was extremely fortunate to attend a fantastic Primary School. It gave me a foundation to be the best possible version of myself. Living locally, BHA reminds me of my Primary School and how fortunate I have been. I grew up in North Tyneside and I have enjoyed living in many parts of England. My spiritual home is the Northwest and I have now lived in Cheshire for over 3 years. For over 10 years I have worked for pladis Global, known for making McVities, Jacobs, Ulker and Godiva Products; specialising in Procurement Governance and Technology. I believe that my professional skills, alongside my keen personal interest will add value to BHA's Pupils, Parents and Staff. I also wish to represent the local community to ensure strong ties between the school and the surrounding area. |
Tyler McPherson-Hill - Staff GovernorTerm of Office: 09.02.22 - 08.02.2026 Declarations of Interest: None Governor Area of Responsibility: Stakeholder engagement I joined Boughton Heath Academy in 2018 as a student teacher and was lucky enough to be offered a teaching post upon completion of my degree. I am currently the Year 3 teacher and have a passion for inclusion within the classroom. I firmly believe that a good education can make a real difference to our children’s lives and their ability to make the most of the opportunities that life presents to them. Additionally, I have a particular interest in attachment disorders and this is something I wish to learn more about and develop a deeper understanding of over the next few years. I chose to become a governor in order to understand why and how changes are made and to be a part of the school’s ongoing progression. I hope that my input ensures that the children’s needs and education continue to come first, guiding the school into a direction that best suits us whilst making the most of each opportunity. |
Mark Loughnane - Parent GovernorTerm of Office: 08.06.2022 - 07.06.2026 Declarations of Interest: None I joined as a parent governor in 2022, towards the end of my daughter's first year in the school. She is now in Year 2, and my son is due to join the school in September 2025.
As I will have children in the school until Summer 2032, I wanted to volunteer my time in order to help the school thrive.
Outside of school I am a director of a property company, and sit on some industry related boards.

Laura Paddock - Parent Governor Term of Office: 10/01/2024 - 09/01/2028 Declaration of Interests: Trustee of Oldfield preschool April 2021. Deputy Head at Oughtrington Primary School from February 2010. I am a parent governor with a child currently in Reception. My professional background is education with my current role being a Deputy Head Teacher of a primary school in Warrington. I am very interested in the quality of education with particular focus on curriculum and teaching and learning. I very much look forward to working with the dedicated team at Boughton Heath in their quest to provide the very best that education can offer.
Daniel Knox - Parent Governor Term of Office: 10/01/2024 - 09/01/2028 Declaration of Interests: Lecturer at Wrexham University As a parent Governor at Boughton Heath, I want to ensure that all children have the same opportunities, whilst also ensuring subjects like design, engineering and arts and not forgotten. My background is rooted in product design and engineering across diverse industries, from performance fabrics to premium electronic consumer goods and FMCG. Previous roles have been held at Dyson, where I contributed to consumer research, prototyping, testing, and design for manufacture, and Unilever's Global Design Technology Hub, where I designed for mass production and played a role in developing strategies aligned with Unilever's Sustainable Living Plan. I am now a lecturer at Wrexham University where I am also working on a joint research project with the RCA which is all about Ecological Citizenship, where I aspire to set new standards and empower communities to foster the environment for future generations. I am excited to bring this wealth of experience to my role as a Parent Governor, working collaboratively to enhance the educational experience for all our students.
